- To develop a professional association which provides Membership and a platform to trained Social Work professionals who have a Bachelor or a Master’s degree.
- To establish linkages with professional bodies and institutions in social work so as to promote their interests and develop the social work profession.
- To provide an institutional frame-work for the consideration of the social work activities, agencies and practitioners.
- To develop a forum for social work professionals in order to facilitate exchange of ideas and upgrade knowledge skill sets in social work profession.
- To advocate and promote adequate placements of Social Work professionals in Government and Non-government sector.
- To organize seminars, workshops and debates for the promotion of a professional approach in the field of social work.
- To build up a documentation cell and encourage publication of news, journals and literature on social issues and social work practices.
OPSWA AT A GLANCE
The Odisha Professional Social Workers Association (OPSWA), Bhubaneswar is an association of professional social workers and was registered in 1994 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 bearing Registration No.5703-742.
The OPSWA is a membership-based organization which was set-up for the continuous professional growth of its members and the profession as a whole. Those who have completed a post-graduate or graduate degree in social work become eligible to be amember of this association. Further, students pursuing Social Work as a degree become eligible to be a member of this association.
OPSWA functions as a common platform for all professional social workers in Odisha, to discuss and share professional issues and challenges in their respective areas of work through workshops, seminars, conferences and discussion forums. It strives to provide additional inputs to build and improve upon the core competencies as per the changing demands in existing & emerging fields so that they can create a niche space for themselves and ultimately to the benefit of their clients.
